Getting Ready Together: Tips for the Bride and Groom

Bride and Groom

You’ve finally decided to take the next step in your relationship and get married! There’s a lot of time between the start of your engagement and when you walk down the aisle, and it makes sense that the two of you would want to spend as much of that time with each other as possible. Here are some ways that you can prepare for your wedding together as bride and groom.

Create a Wedding Checklist

There are a lot of moving parts to a wedding, which makes it easy to lose track of all the details. One of the first things you can do together is to create or find a wedding planning checklist to help keep you on track. A simple search on the web will give you all the details you’ll need to plan the wedding of your dreams, which makes it easy to create a realistic timeline to get everything done. Both the bride and the groom should know this checklist well. The groom should also know the bride’s personal checklist, and vice versa, to make sure that everyone has what they need so the wedding can run smoothly. It also allows you to lean on each other if things start to derail a bit, which is a great skill to take into your marriage!

Go To All Vendor Meetings Together

When people think of wedding planning, they typically picture the bride being in charge of all the appointments to create the wedding of her dreams. But the groom should definitely be in the room whenever any big decisions are being made. Go pick out flowers together, try cake together, create the registry together, and do all the other things that might traditionally be done with your bridesmaids or groomsmen. This way, both people can make sure that they get what they want and you can avoid silly things like putting the wrong gifts on your registry. This day is all about the two of you, so you’ll want to plan it together to create an event that represents you both equally.

Start A Diet Plan

If you want to look your best on your wedding day, as most people do, then you need to feel your best. And the first step to feeling your best is eating your best. People who consume a balanced diet have more energy, are less stressed, and are overall happier people, which means you’ll be able to enjoy your wedding day even more. Now, this doesn’t mean finding a fad detox plan or a trendy weight loss challenge, as these tend to leave your body malnourished and they can even be dangerous for your health. Instead, look for a nourishing weight loss plan that works on changing your overall habits, rather than trying to quickly rid your body of toxins. Doing this with your soon-to-be spouse will not only help you keep each other accountable, but also allows you to enter into a healthy marriage as healthier people!

Plan De-Stress Nights

Everyone who’s ever planned a wedding knows that it’s stressful, which is why it’s so important to find ways of reducing that stress. Brainstorm ways to hang-out with your partner to help improve your mood. Do small things together like having weekly skin care nights complete with couple’s face masks and homemade popcorn, and watch a movie together. Go out dancing and maybe practice your first dance as husband and wife in a fun, low-pressure environment. Or plan date nights where you don’t talk about wedding plans at all. Doing all of the activities you enjoy together will help take your mind off of the wedding planning stress, and help you bond more as a couple.

Spend Time Together

The whole point of a wedding is to celebrate finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. After all, you only get to be “the bride and groom” for a short amount of time, so spend this very special time together, and rejoice in your love for each other!
