Congratulations! This is one of the most exciting times of your life and it’s just going to get better!

No matter how far away your wedding date is, time is going to FLY by and this time now, right after your engagement is going to be the biggest whirlwind.

While you might want to dive into planning your wedding immediately, let yourself enjoy this time with family and friends. There is so much to think about, so many people to contact, so many Pinterest boards to check out! Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed.

Where do you start? While there’s no set in stone order, we hope to make the wedding planning a fun time for you and your new fiancé.

Your first step most likely is planning the wedding date. Venues get booked far in advance, so if you have a specific date in mind, it’s best to start visiting venues (hi!) to ensure your ideal spot is free on the date that is best for both your families. You will want to visit a number of venues with your ceremony and reception in mind first.

When you picture your ideal venue, what do you see? Are you interested in an outdoor or indoor wedding? Does the idea of a rustic setting inspire you? Are you more modern or traditional? To help you get a better idea of what you like and what your ideal style is, you can visit venues, peruse Pinterest or subscribe (you probably already are!) to a number of local wedding magazines. You might find inspiration on color palettes and décor in anything from carpet patterns to napkin designs, even in nature!

Next, you’re going to want to discuss what size wedding you’d like to have. Once you begin putting together a rough idea of how many people you will be inviting and what budget you will be working with, you can better inform the venue of your initial vision. This will help you put together a budget that works for everyone involved.

You may have grown up with a friend and one day, (most likely back in kindergarten!), you both promised to be each other maid of honor. Now is the time to discuss the wedding party with your fiancé. How many bridesmaids and groomsmen do you each want? Will you have an even number? Does he have someone in mind to be the best man?

The next step is a fun one! It’s now time to plan your engagement party! If you’ve found a wedding planner you love, we can also help plan your engagement party. This is a fun event showcasing who you are as a couple and gives your family and friends a chance to celebrate your engagement all together!

Don’t forget that amidst the craziness, there are people there to help you and take as much of the stress out of this exciting time!
